REG KING – Physical Number Plate Warranty Policy

At REG KING, we take pride in the quality of the physical number plates we manufacture and supply.

Our warranty applies specifically to the physical number plate itself and covers genuine manufacturing defects. It does not provide a warranty for fitting, installation, removal or any other service.

12-Month Physical Plate Warranty

All physical number plates manufactured by REG KING are covered by a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects, starting from the original date of purchase.

What's Covered

Our warranty covers genuine manufacturing faults with the physical plate, including:

  • Plate layers separating or delaminating due to a manufacturing fault.
  • Reflective material peeling or separating due to a manufacturing fault.
  • Characters, lettering or other components lifting or separating due to a manufacturing fault.
  • Premature failure of materials caused by a manufacturing defect.
  • Manufacturing errors made by REG KING.

If we confirm that the physical plate has developed a manufacturing defect covered by our warranty, we will normally repair or replace the affected plate free of charge.

What's Not Covered

Our physical plate warranty does not cover:

  • Fitting or installation issues.
  • Removal or refitting.
  • Plates becoming loose or falling off.
  • Loss of a plate after it has been fitted.
  • Theft or attempted theft.
  • Vandalism.
  • Damage or loss caused by adverse or extreme weather conditions.
  • Damage caused by flooding, excessive heat, ice, snow, storms or other environmental conditions.
  • Cracks, chips, scratches or impact damage.
  • Road debris or stone damage.
  • Damage around drilled holes or fixing points.
  • Damage caused by screws, adhesive pads, brackets or other fixings.
  • Plates that have been bent, flexed, cut, drilled or modified after manufacture.
  • Accidental or deliberate damage.
  • Pressure washer damage.
  • Damage caused by chemicals, solvents or unsuitable cleaning products.
  • Normal wear and tear.
  • Damage resulting from neglect, misuse or lack of reasonable care.
  • Damage caused during cleaning.
  • Damage caused during removal or refitting.
  • Any other damage caused by an external factor rather than a manufacturing defect.

Our warranty covers manufacturing defects with the physical plate only.

Fitting & Plates Falling Off

REG KING may offer an optional fitting service. Fitting is separate from and is not included within our 12-month physical plate manufacturing warranty.

Once a plate has been fitted, customers are responsible for taking reasonable care of it and checking that it remains securely attached to the vehicle.

We particularly recommend checking your plates after:

  • Washing or pressure washing the vehicle.
  • Driving in severe weather.
  • An impact or collision.
  • Driving over particularly poor road surfaces.
  • Any occasion where the plate appears loose or insecure.

If a plate becomes loose, customers should take reasonable action to secure or replace the fitting before continuing to use the vehicle.

If a customer continues to drive after becoming aware that a plate is loose or insecure, REG KING's physical plate warranty will not cover any subsequent loss or damage to that plate.

Lost, Fallen or Stolen Plates

Our physical plate warranty does not cover plates which:

  • Become loose or detach from the vehicle.
  • Fall off and become lost.
  • Are stolen or removed by another person.
  • Are damaged during an attempted theft.
  • Are lost or damaged due to vandalism.
  • Are lost or damaged due to severe weather.
  • Are lost or damaged following an accident or impact.
  • Are removed and subsequently refitted by the customer or another third party.

Where a physical plate is lost, stolen, damaged or falls from the vehicle, a free replacement will not be provided under our physical plate warranty unless the issue is established to be a covered manufacturing defect with the plate itself.

The fact that REG KING originally fitted the plate does not extend the physical plate manufacturing warranty to cover subsequent loss, theft, weather damage, external damage or lack of reasonable care.

Nothing within this section excludes or restricts any statutory rights or remedies which cannot legally be excluded.

All Plate Styles – Care & Maintenance

This warranty and the following care requirements apply to all physical plate styles supplied by REG KING.

Customers should take appropriate care when cleaning, handling and maintaining their plates.

Damage caused by misuse, external force, inappropriate cleaning, neglect or modification is not considered a manufacturing defect.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Characters, lettering or components being picked, pulled, peeled or deliberately removed.
  • Pressure washers being used too close to the plate.
  • Harsh chemicals, solvents or abrasive cleaning products.
  • Scraping, scratching or excessive rubbing.
  • Bending, flexing, cutting, drilling or modifying the plate.
  • Damage caused during removal or refitting.
  • Impact damage.
  • Stone chips or road debris.
  • Accidental or deliberate damage.
  • Lack of reasonable care or maintenance.
  • Damage or deterioration caused by external or environmental factors.

If any part of your plate begins lifting, peeling, separating or otherwise failing without evidence of damage, misuse or another external cause, please contact REG KING so that we can inspect the plate and determine whether a manufacturing defect is present.

Making a Warranty Claim

If you believe your physical plate has developed a manufacturing defect, please contact REG KING and provide:

  • Proof of purchase or your order details.
  • Clear photographs showing the reported issue.
  • A photograph showing the complete affected plate.
  • Any additional photographs or information reasonably requested by REG KING.

We may ask you to bring the affected plate into our store so that it can be inspected.

Please do not attempt to glue, repair, modify or alter the affected area before we have inspected it, as doing so may prevent us from determining whether a manufacturing defect is present.

Warranty Assessment

All warranty claims are subject to inspection and assessment by REG KING.

We will consider whether the issue has resulted from a genuine manufacturing defect or from an external factor such as damage, fitting, cleaning, impact, misuse, modification or normal wear and tear.

If the issue is confirmed as a manufacturing defect, we will normally repair or replace the affected physical plate free of charge.

Individual Plate Replacement

Our warranty applies to the affected plate, not automatically to the complete set.

For example, if a manufacturing defect develops on the rear plate but the front plate remains unaffected, only the rear plate will normally be repaired or replaced.

A fault affecting one plate does not automatically entitle the customer to a complete replacement set.

Incorrectly Manufactured Plates

If REG KING has made an error during manufacture and the finished plate does not match the customer's confirmed order, please contact us so that we can correct the affected plate.

Where the plate has been manufactured in accordance with the registration, size, style, spacing or other options confirmed or approved by the customer, this will not normally be considered a manufacturing defect.

Customers should therefore check their order details carefully before manufacture.

What Happens If a Claim Isn't Covered?

If, following assessment, we determine that the issue is not a manufacturing defect, the claim will not be covered by our physical plate warranty.

This may include issues caused by:

  • Fitting or fixings.
  • Accidental damage.
  • Impact.
  • Weather conditions.
  • Loss or theft.
  • Cleaning methods.
  • Pressure washing.
  • Removal or refitting.
  • Modification.
  • Misuse or neglect.
  • Normal wear and tear.
  • Other external causes.

Where possible, REG KING may still offer to manufacture a replacement plate; however, the replacement may be chargeable.

Statutory Rights

This is a voluntary 12-month manufacturing warranty covering the physical number plate itself.

It is intended to provide additional protection against genuine manufacturing defects and does not replace the customer's statutory rights.

Nothing within this policy is intended to exclude, limit or restrict any rights or remedies which cannot legally be excluded or restricted under applicable UK consumer law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
